THE
GURUS AND SAGES DO NOT PREACH TO SURRENDER YOUR WILL;
THEY
SAY TO SURRENDER EGO, WHICH MAINTAINS ITSELF THROUGH DESIRE.
We associate such qualities with yogis, but in transformation this
consciousness will be common. This is not otherworldly nor is it rejecting
anything, being irresponsible or escapist. Without higher understanding, the
more we try to fulfill our duties, the more we remain dissatisfied,
disturbed or unhealthy. “Push and pull” is a constant phenomenon in society,
therefore there is such disturbance and tension in the atmosphere. We are
trying to achieve, to have more; we are not trying to evolve, to raise our
consciousness. If we do that, all deficiencies will be resolved. |
Wishes and desires are a corrupted form of will. When we lose the power of
will, we desire. The prophets and sages tell us to be desireless for exactly
this reason. When God willed, He didn’t desire. In transformation, man wills
as the yogi wills, and it happens. One of God’s attributes is omnipotence;
His will is supreme. He is not desireless nor is He willful. He is
all-powerful. Will comes from the core of your Being; it has been called
supreme will or soul will. The gurus and sages do not preach to surrender
your will; they say to surrender ego, which maintains itself through desire.
The more you desire, the more the ego plays games and the weaker you become;
the more tricks you play, the more cleverness you employ, the more helpless
you become. With will intact, we do not desire much, only what is worthwhile
and fulfilling. You will eventually see that the cosmos is so designed that
our wishes and desires have no meaning in themselves but to come in tune
with Cosmic Will. |
