IN MEDITATION AND SAMADHI YOU CALM YOUR MIND IN SUCH A WAY THAT
YOU GET BACK TO THE SOURCE OF ALL THESE VIBRATIONS. THEN YOU
WILL KNOW EVERYTHING

You may not like karmas because they make you suffer. You feel as if you are getting undue results. But what you did in the past—who will pay that price? That karma is chasing you. If you have faith, your vibrations will get straightened out; if you suffer, you also get purified. The price has been paid. At the end of that experience, once you are free of that karma, you will understand why it all happened. But just imagine if two years or five years back this had been told to you. You might not have agreed, or if you had agreed, your mind would not have followed it. And even if you had followed it, your mind would go up and down many times. The beauty is this: if you are right, pain and pleasure should not follow. But if your mind is up and down, changing moods, then something is wrong somewhere.

K ARMA THEORY IS AN ENCYCLOPEDIA. Everyone has done millions of karmas and it will take eons for everyone to get free of them, but at the same time there is always a shortcut. You can come out of it in a moment—free of the whole bundle of karmas! Surrender unto the Lord or get into that science whereby you can straighten or relax your vibrations by deep meditation. This needs purity of heart, childlike simplicity and innocence—nothing else. Whether you are a swami or an industrialist, a student or a doctor, a press reporter or a housewife, you have to be simple and humble to live the divine life, the life of peace and joy. We cannot avoid and escape our own mind. The true seeker will not avoid his or her mind. He will see it and admit it, and if need be, repent it, not only confessing objectively but subjectively. Mark my words: objective, ritualistic confession has not much meaning. Subjective repentance has. It will bring real tears, which will wash off the mind.

The way is through us and in us. We are sitting here, fifty people, fifty minds, and each mind has—let’s say for the time being—a hundred vibrations. Together that would be five thousand vibrations. But if you could see with the third eye into the astral plane, all these five thousand vibrations are again one person. Likewise, when you extend this idea to the universe, there is one Universal Being having all these vibrations within Him. It is difficult to imagine these things but that is how it works. Have you seen those old-fashioned telephone operators having wires and plugs to put in and out of the various connections on a board? This very thing is literally done with vibrations. Let’s say if I were such a telephone operator and I take vibrations, one of his and one of hers and connect them, you wouldn’t know I did it but you would begin to get the ideas of each other.
This attraction and repulsion cannot be explained in one birth’s time. You have to go back through thousands of births or since you were created and see how you have cultivated certain attractions and repulsions for certain people and places and things. In each attraction and repulsion there is a lesson. As soon as you grow into learning that lesson, then another lesson follows. You might wish one day for it to end. Unless you end it, it won’t. You can take one billion births more. It could go on like that: connecting, disconnecting, connecting, disconnecting, unless you really want to stop it—“Telephone operator, zero! Just don’t connect me to anything!” Where you stop, then only it stops; otherwise karma is never ending connectedness.
