We miss the very joy we seek by being serious about things where we
shouldn’t be. Sages have called this self-delusion. It is not that God created
delusion or illusion to mystify or deceive us. It is self-delusion.

As Jesus said: Seek the Divine first and everything else shall be added unto you. Jugglers will always be available to peep at along the way. Nothing extinguishes, as we might fear it will. Knowing this, we should not get stuck with physical reality only. Pay attention to the physical but at the same time realize that it is not so serious that we should miss the subtler vibratory thoughts and feelings. There is a force, an energy or strength involved that is called prana. Once we release our prana from the thoughts and the feelings of life’s daily vicissitudes, our consciousness will be released. And the first symptom will be joy—right then and there. You must have seen this as a symptom or as a proof: sometimes when you are very relaxed, your energy and consciousness begin to be released and then joy starts to rise up within you, so much so that you would not like to leave it. This is what you are seeking, isn’t it?

Even if you do not use religious language, it doesn’t matter. We have to go forward. This is another meaning of living: to go forward or upward. See in your life what you are stuck to, one, two or three things, and work upon those, not so much how to solve them but just pay attention and release your consciousness. Attention is necessary. Caring is necessary. Loving is necessary. Renunciation is not for everyone. For those who live in the world, who have duties, obligations, commitments and responsibilities, psychology and spirituality can go hand in hand very well. At the same time, I know that psychology or reason will not solve everything. The solution to the mind is beyond the mind.

RELEASING THE MIND is the ultimate answer—or release from the mind. Mind is the world, the family, associations or relationships; mind is a collectivity in which a group of concepts or patterns are stored. We hover around in our minds in whichever pattern or patterns we get stuck in and we become lost. We are mental beings. To go beyond the mind’s limitations we have to slowly come out of the patterns in which we have become deeply habituated.
