GOD WILLED AND THAT WILL IS THE FIRST SHAKTI, or energy called swai-cha’ in Sanskrit. And with that power, that strength, that energy, which is vibratory, the creation manifests. This is a form of Divine Mother—He and She become relative to each other, called Purusha and prakriti, Spirit and nature. Prakriti is the manifestation, the radiation or projection of the Supreme. Try to conceive the idea because then you will see the rupa, the real form or vision of Divine Mother. This is not something that can be given to you with missionary zeal. You have to catch it.
In the beginning is that projection or will, which is energy. It projects energy but not in the sense of separating from it. It always remains connected. For example, in this candle there is a flame and a glow or radiance. We don’t see its glow much because of the electric lights, but in the darkness you will see its glow to a certain radius. So the flame throws the light or the projection of the glow but never separate from the flame; it remains connected throughout. There is never a gap in between. If you extinguish the flame, the glow extinguishes right there. So it is with God.
Now if I put a certain opaque cover over the flame, the glow will be gone. So it is with the world, the universe, the manifestation. Supposing the Supreme again divines the manifestation back into Him or It, as if in deep samadhi, the creation or projection will, like that glow, be over. This connectedness, this inseparability is the whole meaning of pervadedness, that without the Creator, the creation does not exist. If you understand this, then you will see the connection between Divine Mother and Divine Father, that They are not two Beings.

We smell the perfume of the flower and begin to be attracted to the source of it. That perfume is nature, Divine Mother. Without the flower, the perfume would not be there. Does that mean the perfume is inferior to the flower? The flower has made the perfume possible. If you condemn the perfume as being inferior, you are condemning the flower itself. As long as we retain this dualistic, analytic thinking, it divides and separates. That is the work of the intellect, and that is the first fallacy. To unite, to synthesize and integrate is not what the reasoning mind normally does. If you see this integration, synthesis and harmony, you will respect the perfume as much as the flower.
So it is with the flame. We are attracted to the flame because of its glow. We do not say, “Now I have reached the flame, so the glow is a myth, an illusion.” Therefore I have always said that those are fools who condemn dualism. They do not understand what they are doing. The very dualism is the manifestation of nondualism, which itself attracts you to nondualism. You cannot condemn that. If you do, you miss both. Dualism is not separate from nondualism. You can only separate them intellectually. So where you reject Divine Mother, you are rejecting the energy, the strength, the whole phenomenon, which is a creation of the Absolute by Its own will. You are going against His will. Therefore when we do that we are chastised, we are punished, we suffer, get miseries, diseases, loss of peace of mind until we find the Source, the Absolute Supreme.
