True aspiration is born in a peaceful mind. When your mind is at peace, gradually your real aspiration to know the Reality, to see God, will emerge. No one has to teach this to you. When your mind again becomes noisy and disturbed you lose your aspiration. Nobody has to teach us to run after God; it should be our natural urge to know the Reality, to be conscious. With a peaceful mind you begin to meditate properly. Your energy goes upward. Your whole consciousness begins to awaken, to come out of the dross of unconsciousness.
In your life, wherever you may be, be on Truth. Often we think: if I am truthful and most others are untruthful, I will lose. When others are untruthful you hate it, but when you speak untruth you forgive yourself; you think that is the way it has to be. If someone hurts you or your loved ones, you don’t like it, but when you hurt someone, you take it easy. In our day-to-day lives we value truth and honesty until it comes to our own selfishness, which we justify one way or another: since everyone does it, therefore it is right. This is where habit is created, which becomes collectively inculcated in us. We carry on in spite of knowing otherwise.
If we face the truth, if we follow and practice the truth, at first we may be tested; that is good because if we were not tested we would not know where we stand. God has to test us. If we are on the Truth we will not be afraid of being tested. If our hearts are clean, let anybody test us, but if our hearts are not clean, then what? If we resist the Truth a hundred times, we get used to it, as if it doesn’t matter. We have our doubts, but what are we getting? There are many habitual patterns of the mind that we carry on day after day feeling as if it is okay. If it were okay we would be swimming in joy all the time.
