THE GURUS AND SAGES DO NOT PREACH TO SURRENDER YOUR WILL;
THEY SAY TO SURRENDER EGO, WHICH MAINTAINS ITSELF THROUGH DESIRE.

      We associate such qualities with yogis, but in transformation this consciousness will be common. This is not otherworldly nor is it rejecting anything, being irresponsible or escapist. Without higher understanding, the more we try to fulfill our duties, the more we remain dissatisfied, disturbed or unhealthy. “Push and pull” is a constant phenomenon in society, therefore there is such disturbance and tension in the atmosphere. We are trying to achieve, to have more; we are not trying to evolve, to raise our consciousness. If we do that, all deficiencies will be resolved.

GIVE LIFE ITS PROPORTIONATE VALUE and get to contemplation. No one is depriving you of what you want; have it, but do not make it an end in itself. This is a gradual clearing of consciousness, fulfilling the purpose of life. You will begin to see that Perfection is possible. This may sound otherworldly but it is of this world. Your mind is a vibratory phenomenon. And here we come to will: In unconscious, instinctive living, will is at its weakest. In the contemplative life, you begin to see that will is a power that can be gathered up. There are three aspects behind creation: the gross, subtle and causal. Will is the cause, not as cause and effect—the root cause is will. When will becomes weak, the astral body becomes weak and then on the physical level we suffer in many ways: poverty, tragedies, miseries, sickness, divorce, disharmony, wars, battles and decay. Gather up your will and you will see what a tremendous asset it is for transformation.

      Wishes and desires are a corrupted form of will. When we lose the power of will, we desire. The prophets and sages tell us to be desireless for exactly this reason. When God willed, He didn’t desire. In transformation, man wills as the yogi wills, and it happens. One of God’s attributes is omnipotence; His will is supreme. He is not desireless nor is He willful. He is all-powerful. Will comes from the core of your Being; it has been called supreme will or soul will. The gurus and sages do not preach to surrender your will; they say to surrender ego, which maintains itself through desire. The more you desire, the more the ego plays games and the weaker you become; the more tricks you play, the more cleverness you employ, the more helpless you become. With will intact, we do not desire much, only what is worthwhile and fulfilling. You will eventually see that the cosmos is so designed that our wishes and desires have no meaning in themselves but to come in tune with Cosmic Will.
      Clean the slate of your mind. Come to such clarity and simplicity that you, as if, know nothing, where questions arise anew. You will then be qualified to receive the answers. Your subconscious mind is a storehouse of knowledge and experiences. Faculties that have been hidden or closed will begin to open up. The communications and travel of today would have been unimaginable a century ago; when our higher faculties open we take them as simply natural.
